Works well, good for the money Jul 27, 2010 Operationally it's fine. I plugged the data cable and the power cable both into the same powered USB hub and it came up, was recognized and accessible. Data transfers worked no problem and it works a treat for watching DVDs on my daughters little EeeboxPC nettop that she uses.
My only issue with the unit is that it's a little difficult to close. If you put any pressure at all on the top of the case the drawer will hang up and not shut. Holding from the sides of the chassis solves the problem but I worry about the longevity of this poor thing seeing as how my teenager is the primary user. Another minor quibble is the length of the included cables. Very short. Not a huge thing since it's generally going to be next to the PC but in our case, the EEEbox is on a shelf above the desk and it connects to a USB hub which is on the actual desk surface about 2 feet below. Since the EEEbox only has 2 usb ports on it (and one was taken by the hub) we had to rearrange some things to get it all connected. That or we could have bought some USB extension cables I suppose. Other than that though it's a great little box. Recommended.

Not making me a happy bunny! May 27, 2010 I purchased this recently in the USA as getting electronics where I live is very difficult. I had it delivered through Amazon. So far, it hasn't been very helpful. It will not recognise blank DVDs at all, which makes it sort of pointless for me. It just won't recognise that there is anything been inserted. If I put in a DVD that has been erased, it says that it is locked. It crashed my computer after this incident. It does accept non rewritable CDs which is OK, but not what I wanted. It also does weird thing like cause random windows to open. I found the instructions unhelpful and the disk that came with it made no sense as everything seems to be in Japanese/Chinese/Korean (I apologise but I can't tell the difference between the languages in writing). I'm sort of at a loss and starting to consider it a waste of money. Sorry to say that I can't recommend it.

Malo, no sirve, perdi mi dinero Mar 31, 2010 Así lo hizo, lo instalé en mi MiniNetbook, se reconoce pero no lee ningún disco. Es una lástima que no pueda volver ya que estoy en Costa Rica, sino que debe realizarce un mejor control de calidad. No se recomienda. He perdido mi dinero
What a good product Mar 30, 2010 Needed a DVD ROM to load some new software. This sure worked well for me and my desk computer. It also travels with me for use with my rather inexpensive netbook. I'm way ahead financially and have a good product.

my dvd rom drive in my computer is no good and I have had it tested,so I was looking at Amazon,and all they had to offer I looked at alot of drives and I came on this one all you do is plug it in to usb port and it works great better than the one I had ,no lie,its small it will fit any were,.....and I wonderd about this dvd drive to just plug it in and it is amazing and the price was just right for me.
