Works great with Linux Feb 16, 2011

I put one of these in my Dell Mini 9 to replace the Dell Broadcom wifi card. I got tired of searching for Linux drivers all the time. Ubuntu 10.04 recognizes this card automatically. No more driver headaches/ This card also supports 802.11 a, b, g and n. My old card only supported 802.11 b and g. My only complaint is that this card gets hotter than my old card. I took away one star for that. It probably uses more power and shortens battery life some. It was a worthwhile upgrade for the Dell Mini 9.

Works well. Mar 12, 2010
By Brian J. Brock Replaced my Atheros based unit in my netbook with this and added a bar in signal strength.Good upgrade. Seems to run a little hot, though.
Intel WiFi Link 5100 Network adapter (802.11a/b/g/n) Sep 23, 2011
By Kristopher A. Mckenzie The Broadcom mini card that came with my laptop (Dell Vostro 1500) went out. This card costs less, supports a wider range of networks, and works on Linux without installing proprietary drivers. It's been working great over the month that I've been using it. My only complaints: The WiFi light on my laptop now blinks all the time, and Windows XP now keeps trying to connect even with the WiFi switch off (and fails in that case). (The card can be truly turned off from the control panel.)
Works like a charm Sep 10, 2011
By StarfishTrooper Bought this item to upgrade and older Dell Vostro 1000 laptop and works like a charm. The instructions included with the package state that this card is only compatible with INTEL chip sets, but that is not the case. It works well with my AMD chip. Set up was fairly straight forward, just had to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Load times are very fast. My computer went from the slow lane to the HOV lane; Definately worth the money. No complaints.
Intel WiFi Link 5100 - Network adapter - PCI Express Mini Card - 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n (draft 2.0) Jul 09, 2011
By BILLIE JO HAYES I ordered this to replace the old card in my dell D620. I went from 54 Mps to 160 Mps, after install. The card came complete with the drivers. Install was easy and straight forward on my old Dell. I would advise prospective buyers to do their own research to insure this card is compatible with their system(i.e- @ intel's web site). This is a great bargain upgrade for the price.
