5Worth Every Penny  Apr 24, 2010 By SmartenUp
Forget the "big box" stores. Forget buying whole kits that come with stuff you don't need like a monitor, or any other peripheral piece. Go green. Get smart. Buy only what you need. This was a steal of a deal..the cheapest found on the internet. The tower is a bit boxy, but so what? The speed is awesome. This was recommended for gamers, but has not disappointed even though no one here plays games. The speed and the ability to multi-task without slowing down the processing speed is worth every cent paid. As a former "Intel is the best processor" thinker, there is no diappointment whatsoever with the AMD processor found in this. Rumor had it that settling for AMD was like buying a Hyundai instead of a Honda. The response to that rumor after several months of using this? Get a little mustard to go with all that bologney. This machine is worth every penny.

4Nice Machine, but Acer...ehhh  May 06, 2010 By I. Jozsef
It's a great PC overall, despite a few flaws.

Pros:

nice usb ports
nice tray on top of the machine
DVD burner works great
windows 7 is nice
loads of RAM on this thing!
quad core processor is super fast!
On board graphics card is good for everything(except high-end gaming)

Cons:

Stupid bright blue led blinking all the time to show HDD activity, lights up my room at night and no way of turning
it off (I cover it up when it bothers me).
It was sent to me with the hard drive power supply disconnected inside the case... WHAT THE......!?!?!?!
I was about to return it(no hard drive power = no boot up) when I figured I would look inside the case only to
see the power supply plug just hanging there. I plugged it in and all is well, works great now! Acer Customer service was NO help(not in the U.S. for sure).
VGA port on the back of the case is too flexible, I'm afraid that one day I'm gonna break it off of the motherboard. Im gonna use it as an excuse to buy a
better graphics card!

5Great Value!  May 20, 2010 By Dave
This computer is a great value, and I am really enjoying it.

It is extremely fast - I get to the log-in screen within 30 seconds after start-up,
and then I am logged in 15 seconds after that.

The pre-loaded McAfee security suite works well, so I went ahead and
purchased a one year renewal.

The USB keyboard has a comfortable and a soft touch, and the USB mouse is
responsive and precise.
The computer also comes with PS/2 inputs for you to use with a favorite older
keyboard or mouse.
It has convenient USB inputs on the top and on the back.
It also comes with an HDMI outlet for hooking up to your television - I have
not tried this feature yet.
The computer is extremely quiet - my refrigerator is actually louder.
It comes with free Microsoft Works pre-loaded, and with a Microsoft Office free 60 day trial as well.

I initially had trouble with the pre-loaded Internet Explorer 8 giving me page load errors -
I found that the auto-complete function was taking me to expired web pages -
I disabled auto-complete in the content section of internet explorer tools/internet options, and the problem was solved.
I also make sure to delete my cookies and my browser history every day.

The only other problem I have experienced is that I am unable to start the computer with my Seagate external hard drive attached - it gives an unable to load operating system message. I have no problem if I attach the external hard drive after start-up.

The computer does not come with a lot of set-up instruction, but it is easy to set up if you have basic computer knowledge.
You will need to burn 4 blank DVD's to create your recovery discs.

I use this computer for surfing the net and for basic office functions, and it has been a great value for me.
I have had it for three months now, and it is performing reliably.

4Nicely Priced HTPC!  Aug 02, 2010 By Confuzed Win User
After comparing the specs of this Acer packaged desktop, I did see the value was good. There is enough space inside for someone who likes to tinker (upgrade) for extra drives and such. Comes with a 1 Terabyte drive.

The optical 7.1 surround sound out did it for me as far as a home theater PC attached to my Onyko Home Theater. Very Nice!

The power supply has just enough Ummmph to run the GForce 9400 1 Gig video card that I had laying around. It fit neatly into the free PCI Express slot on the Motherboard.

Only disappointment so far is the stated memory (6 Gig 3x2 Gig for a total of 3 used slots) indicated that there would be one slot open (free to use), 4 Slots available, the memory configuration I found after opening the box was all four slots used (2x2 Gig and 2x1 Gig).

Picky people will know its better to have the same sized memory sticks installed.

I don't like having to re-purpose memory sticks at my expense just to upgrade memory. I am glad I didn't buy the extra 2 Gig stick at ordering... but?

Overall this Acer desktop is pretty good bang for the buck...

1Computer failed after one month  May 25, 2011 By Advocate for Truth
I give it zero stars. The Acer started out fine but quickly got flaky (tough to get it to boot up right) and then *completely* stopped working within a month of taking it out of the box. It cost a 15% 'restocking fee' to send the defective computer back to Amazon--functionally it was a doorstop. Amazon did NOT stand behind the defective merchandise except to volunteer to take it back--no exchange, no fix, no help! I took my money and got an HP Pavillion with a 1-terabyte hard drive from a local store.
