Excellent Little Latop for the Price Dec 11, 2009
By JJ Stark I wanted a Netbook for casual use. Mainly for emails, messaging, browsing the internet and for the occasional video watching. The Asus EEE does it all and does it well. Quick enough speed, well lit monitor, average sound. It does what I want it to do with little or no problems
I have had a few issues with mine however. Every once in a while, my keyboard locks up and doesn't accept any new characters. I'm forced to shutdown and reboot the PC at which point it resumes normal use. I've also noticed that some of my "F" keys no longer work. I could probably take it in and have it serviced, but it doesn't interfere with my use, so I don't even really notice it that much.
If you're looking for something small for email, browsing, chatting and/or moderate Word Processing, I highly recommend the Asus EEE. It gets the job done

Very Nice! Mar 21, 2010
By Merv I picked this up at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and love it. It's so small and easy to take around and the graphics and speed are fine. I haven't bothered to upgrade to 2 gigs yet, but no problem as it is. Setting it up and connecting to my wifi was simple also. I'm impressed by the battery life; using the power saving features, I'm getting about the 8 hours as advertised. Sure the mouse if tricky, but that was to be expected. I've never owned a laptop before, but I'm sold on this one.

A Lot More than a Netbook in my opinion Jun 17, 2010
By VSant I bought this netbook for my son for college (no DVD so limited to no gaming). I ended up trading him for my (ugh!) Compaq Vista notebook that has a slightly stronger wi-fi card. I hated the fact that Vista required me to learn all new versions of my software. Microsoft really f***ed up there. OK I didn't expect much from this $249 computer, BUT I WAS WRONG. Running in full screen mode much of the time I really had little adjustment to make. It's running all of my XP software including Photoshop, MSOffice, that I am a "power-user" on and hated to give up for Vista pointless versions. There isn't a software yet that I haven't been able to load and run as well if not better than other machines with DVDs. I keep all my software setup files on a "setup" external drive anyway for ease of restoration purposes so the lack of DVD is nothing. The startup and close-down time is remarkable compared to all the other computers I have ever used. Plus, I download movies from Netflix really well. I use it for email and all things online, plus word processing, spreadsheets, database, raw image processing, quick jpg image processing and upload, embroidery digitizing and the list goes on and on. If you liked using your XP programs and the only thing wrong was that your laptop died, try using this netbook for a while. The I/O are limited, so no parallell or serial or anything like that. 3 USB ports are good. There is a little learning curve with the smaller screen size, but the gains on the software FAR OUTWEIGH any inconvenience you might feel while getting the screen adjusted to your liking. I was considering upgrading my hardrive, but I see that it's an internal thing with controller cable and not a simple screwdriver/plug in thing - so probably not. I don't seem to need any addtional RAM yet so - for $249 I'm really set. Usually I pay almost that much for the extended warranty that hardly works on those bigger notebooks. I hope it lasts. And if it doesn't, well I'll just fork out another $249 on a similar model to compare. I'll admit, it was a Best Buy on sale item. You can pay a little more for more ram, bigger hard drive or Windows 7 if that's your thing.

Nice for the Price! Mar 19, 2010
By Lee Palacios I did some research before I decided to purchase this Netbook. I read Asus is one of the leaders in Netbooks so it's a reliable brand. I compared a few other popular namebrand Netbooks to this one and for about $30 less it has the same if not better hardware. I've read a few people comment about Netbooks lacking a disc player, that shouldn't matter because it's not meant to be a laptop. The Netbook is for people on the go that don't like looking and typing on a tiny smart phone. Overall I think I made a good choice, the size doesn't feel too small and it can handle a lot of software without slowing down.

Don't waste your money Feb 15, 2011
By Jessi I purchased this exact model almost a year ago so that I could take some online courses while I was in Alaska for the summer. I regret wasting my money and time.
Within a couple months my mouse pad started wearing down to the point that it barely recognizes my touch. So I thought, easy fix buy a mouse. Now I have a working mouse again; however, new problems keep popping up.
I have never spilled, dropped or abused my netbook in anyway yet it is constantly breaking down. My screen goes out every time I bump the computer. At first it started looking like static and then the colors started changing and now it goes black sometimes even white. I have received the blue screen of death several times and for no good reason.
If I touch the computer screen my computer no longer recognizes the charge from the adapter. All around I think this computer is a piece of junk.
I wanted to write a review so that other people didn't make the same mistake I did. Seriously, laptops that are much better are just as cheap these days and with some of them having 15.6" screens they aren't too big or heavy. I say invest in another computer all together.
