4Good Netbook for the Price  Aug 03, 2009 By Casey L. Russell "Caseylr"
I bought the HP Mini 110 over the weekend and have been pleased with the performance, given its small size, and portability. The screen is crisp, clear and text is easy to read. Streaming video is good, but there were a few instances of the video skipping as well as stalling, but again this is a netbook and not a desktop or top end laptop computer. I have two complaints about this product. First, it loaded with a ton of bloatwear that you'll never use or need. It took me over 2.5 hours to remove the bloatware and update the OS. The second complaint is the computer tends to run hot and loud when used for extended periods of time. Overall, the HP Mini 110 is a good netbook at a good price. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to purchase.

5So Small But WOW!  Oct 05, 2009 By Joseph Albanese "The Joe Show"
Skeptical was my first reaction when I popped into a computer store and saw the 110. It's size and weight (comparable to a ladies purse or a hardcover novel) made me a bit leary about even thinking about getting a netbook.

But it's a different world these days and the screen on even the best smart phone doesn't make browsing easy.

The HP Mini 110 sets up with no troubles. Finding my wireless router (and the WiFi at my local Starbuck's) was also an uncomplicated process. Yes, the keyboard is a bit too small and the mouse pad takes a lot of patience to use but consider that you can haul this laptop anywhere. And, despite the fact that it is loudly touted as a means to surf the web, don't let that restrict you. The HP Mini 110 can handle an office suite so you really can have the best of both worlds. In fact, I found that the HP Mini 110 works better on software then with certain web applications (YouTube, Hulu, etc. are easy to access but the video's are choppy and playback is poor).

So, for the money (and you'll have enough left over to buy a DVD drive to load this guy up and a mouse), I highly recommend this netbook.

1#1: Day 2 battery clip shattered; #2: Day 82 hinges shattered.  Nov 15, 2009 By Shopping Maven "Virginia"
Wish we could recommend this HP Mini 110 but we can't because the case has serious design flaws. First one lasted less than 2 days -- battery clip slipped, shattered. Retailer replaced it because same thing had happened to their display model. Second one lasted 82 days -- opened it one morning and the right hinge shattered; closed it to see if it could be aligned and the left hinge shattered. Only thing holding the lid on the base are the wires! Called HP Tech Support -- voice response doesn't recognize "Mini" so it routes you to "Voodoo" model which turns out to be a commerical help desk. That rep then transfers you to the Consumer Mini desk where you'll sit on hold for an hour because as the tech told me, they are "overwhelmed" by callers. After stepping through all the hoops there, you'll be transferred to HP Hardware who will tell you the shattered hinges are not covered by the warranty and that they'll fix it for $290! (For a machine that currently retails for $303!) Incredible! The fact that the repair kit is available online for $30 plus another $20 for plastic hinge covers tells you this fairly new model is having enough hinge failures to make it worthwhile to market replacement parts. A definite weakness on this model, made worse by the fact HP won't stand behind the machine. But, since we now have a useless $303 machine, we are trying to decide whether to spring for the $50 in repair parts or just send it to a competitor to use in a commercial to demonstrate why their product is superior to the HP Mini. Pretty much any netbook that keeps it's top connected to the base is superior at this point. You'd think HP would get that!

5super netbook easy to use....  Dec 23, 2009 By I run like a Girl "x"
Funny how much difference 2 lbs can make my other notebook is 5 pounds. This one is about 3 pounds but since that is 40% less it is FEATHERLIGHT in comparison.

Mine came with Windows 7, which just went on with a flip of the power button.

Connected to the internet in a flash.

Went through and took out the MS office preview,
(trust me it will always try and open your attachments)

Also took off the Norton Preview (it will only try and sell you the subscription)

Now It works like a charm, battery life is nice, screen is clear with LED backlight.

Keyboard is small but easily enough to type.

SO far, the memory has been enough, I don't plan on doing huge applications and if you do, a NETBOOK is not for you!

Surfing the internet, getting emails, writing letters, printing mapquest,
and using itunes for your ipod, this does all of this and is easy to carry.

OVERALL RATING 5 stars... I will update if this changes

4What a convenient machine  Dec 24, 2009 By B. Shingledecker "BLS"
I really like this little guy. It is light, the battery works well, it has all of the necessary programs pre-loaded (except MS Office). Seems to be very durable. I haven't had any problems (unless you're throwing it down a stairwell I don't think you will either). The only thing I miss is my CD/DVD Drive. Don't get this to replace your home computer, but absolutely get it for traveling, or being mobile throughout the home and workplace! Fabulous. One other thing I do not like is how tiny the keyboard and screen are, but this is what you will have to deal with if you want space-saving, mobile, convenience.
