definitely a winner! Jan 11, 2011
By Precious This is my first netbook, but I am more than pleased with its performance. It takes a day or two to get comfortable with it, much like a new cell phone. The keyboard is 93% the size of a full keyboard so typing isn't much different. The touchpad is different in which it uses "two finger" scrolling. (Didn't figure that out til day three. Whoops.) The only downer I've had so far with the HP Mini netbook is the display is a bit small for surfing the web; and the keyboard doesn't have a the keys for HOME, END, PAGE UP, and PAGE DOWN. Oh and it comes with Windows 7 Starter which was a great plus as I don't need to upgrade to the full Windows 7 package.

By R. Phillips I bought this computer so I could stay in touch while on a 3 week trip to Spain and Morocco. It worked great for finding hotels, maps and emailing friends and family. It also worked great as a place to store all of the pictures we took. We ran out of space on the camera, but could easily transfer files to the computer. We also watched 3 whole movies on a single charge while on the long flights. It doesn't muti-task very well, but what would you expect from 1GB of RAM. If you want basic functionality, compact size and a hard drive capable of holding a dozen movies and 3 weeks worth of photos from the Sahara!, this is perfect.

I was excited to get this laptop - small form factor with what looked like decent specs. I don't do heavy lifting with it but do use .ppt and Excel pretty heavily. Bottom line - great size for travel BUT the Atom processor on a 32 bit OS with Win 7 = lagging performance with routine MS Office tasks. I would recommend looking at greater processor and OS speeds if you are looking to do anything aside from lite duty activities on this machine - at which point - where does a tablet come in vs. a laptop with real power. For me - this machine does not cut it.
