3Better drives avaliable  Oct 11, 2011 By AcidGlow
I had bought this drive (way back in 2007 when it was about double the price it is now) to help myself with shortcomings of the internal DVD drive that I had in my old PC back then. That is the drive that came with the PC would refuse to load/read some written CDs as well as some pressed DVDs. Thinking LG was the right choice I bought this drive so that I could have access to the data and movies that my internal drive refused to read. Installation was a breeze, plug in and done. On the first try it failed to read same CDs that my other drive refused, thinking CDs are damaged I tried them on a different PC which was at the time some 8 years old. They worked perfectly on the old machine. I had reinstalled windows (in case of sriver errors, viruses and or malware that was not being detected and (luckily my windows DVD could be read just fine)both internal and this external drive failed to read same CDs again. Right now the drive is collecting dust on a shelf albeit it does appear as a fancy paper-weight so that is one use it will do very well but when it comes to reading/writing CD's... This LG product should be avoided like the plague.

This DVD+R drive never worked from day one. It only recognized the install disk. All other disks were considered cd's. Once I managed to get 1.7 gb onto a disk by trickery, most would max out at 225mb. What a rip off. I bough thi to use make a backup for a XP machine, should have just used the 17 cd's it wanted to use the internal drive. THe software never installed right leaving a fragmented mess on the HD which I had to to remove. What a waste.... I have loved my LG phones but this drive was horrible.
