NU external May 01, 2010 I am very sorry to express my disappointment with this item coz
since i bought it i used it like five times then after that it stopped
to operate...i dont know the reason of that misfunction and i strongly doubt that
this may have been caused by a non recommended usage of my part.
Slow, but works fine for ripping, burning... Apr 26, 2010 I got this for my girlfriend's Asus (1000h?) netbook... ho problem connecting (it does use TWO USB ports) was recognized immediately - driver was auto loaded. I was able to rip / burn a movie, rip / burn audio. My only complaint is speed - its much slower than any desktop counterpart I've used - doesn't shock me or anything - just beware the speed. Loading Nero (came with it) took 30 mins or so, so if you're loading a bunch of software, you might consider creating ISO's on your desktop machine and loading them with Daemon tools - much quicker. I got this because the girlfriend thought it was a hassle to bother me with loading her music and any other CD / DVD ROM based stuff for her over the network.
worked perfect out of the box Feb 08, 2010 upon opening the box, i was a bit worried as no drivers were included. however, it was truly plug and play.

Perfect size & weight for new netbooks without DVD drives. Dec 08, 2009 If you invest in one of the small netbooks, you will need an external drive to go with it. Because I purchased my netbook explicitly for travel I didn't want to drag a heavy, bulky external drive along. That would negate the whole investment. There were many to choose from at the price point I wanted. They all had about the same features. The help line guy told me it looked sturdy & was light & about as small as it could be.
The 4 stars instead of 5 is because it takes two USB slots to run & doesn't have that sturdy feel about it. It looks good, is very light, runs quiet & cool. Only time will tell If it holds up to travel bumps & bangs. If it holds up, it is a good purchase.

Easy to run Nov 30, 2009 I ordered this burner because I have a Dell Mini which has no room for a cd/dvd drive. This burner, which came with Nero, works really well and is so, so easy to use!
