Nice, white and fluffy Mar 30, 2009 The MSI Wind netbook was my choice for a portable, feature-rich yet compact laptop for my sister. It has most if not all standard and extra features you'd expect from a modern-day netbook, decent size keyboard, low power consumption (also meaning you won't get burned while holding the laptop), and a relatively large screen give the overall dimensions of the computer. Sister just loves it, as it perfectly fits her needs as a lightweight, network-aware but powerful enough laptop to use throughout the day, while on the move. And the appearance is nice and fluffy for a girl :-)

Very good, but not perfect. Feb 24, 2009 This is a very good small laptop for the price. Well-built, clear and not difficult to read like smaller ones, fast enough for most uses, it can do most everything a larger laptop can do. However, there are some negatives. The touchpad is overly sensitive, so sometimes it is difficult to stay in place; using a mouse in much easier. No User's Manual, no Cd drive with which to use support cd's that come with it and for printer drivers, no protective sleeve, it is barebones. To have all of this would be worth another fifty dollars,I think. Nevertheless, I recommend it as the best netbook I could find, especially for the price. Richard

great laptop Feb 18, 2009 i had the acer aspire one, and then i saw this one. so returned it and it was the best decision i ever made! the screen is alot more crisp, and the form factor is a 100 times nicer. i was able to upgrade the ram to 2gb and overclock the cpu to 2ghz. and with a 250gb hard drive upgrade, got plenty of space for my stuff. totally recommend this laptop

Great value for money Feb 11, 2009 You can just grab it with 3 fingers, pop it into any ol bag and go anywhere and work with it. Yes, the screen is small, but that is the price to pay for flexibility. I wandered all over London during a flight layover of 8 hrs with this in a backpack and many other things. That would never have happened with any other laptop.
I'm having so much fun with this, that the only issue is battery life. The 2 hours is just not enough, and I don't feel like carrying the charger around. So now I have to figure out how to solve that problem. I might put Linux on it, which would not be such a hog.

A marvellous little machine! Jan 21, 2009 I've had our U100 for about two months. I love it! It has the perfect screen size for my tired eyes (the white keys help with that, too). The way I use my computers, having both a wireless and a wired ethernet capability is a feature I appreciate. The hard drive is plenty large enough for me. The camera is great, too.
Soon after buying mine, I did do some remedial upgrades. I got a good quality Bluetooth dongle, added another gigabyte of memory, and a nine cell battery that gives it more than six hours of useful computing time. These upgrades cost about $100 in total. I hasten to point out, the upgrades weren't essential, they just made a good thing even better for my situation.
My spouse used the webcam to talk with her family overseas using Google talk; she said it was just like being there. Her happiness by itself totally justified the purchase!
The MSI Wind series has an enthusiastic following of computer hobbyists. They have discovered many ways of enhancing the U100 for everyday use. Because of this following, I don't think the Winds will soon join the ranks of orphaned hardware.
For those unfamiliar with the MSI name, I've bought their system components for years and always have been pleased with their quality and the way that MSI provides continuing support.
When I upgraded the memory, I carefully checked the internal components and the craftsmanship. I was impressed by both. Lots of name brand sub-components and everything carefully and thoughtfully laid out.
If all my purchases made me as happy as this one, I would indeed be a happy camper.
