Sony DRX720UL External USB 2.0/i.Link DVD+R Double Layer/DVD+RW Jul 11, 2005
By Bryan W. Braun Wonderful addition to my computer system. Easy to hook-up. XP recognized it as soon as I connected the USB and applied power. I was using it 5 minutes out of the box. Good looking unit also, lays flat or on it's side, performs superbly either way. No opinion on the provided software, haven't had a need for it yet.

Awesome drive, with good i.link connectivity, and can't beat the price for an great Sony product! Having a Sony computer, I wanted another option other than USB, and this was the perfect choice.
I've burned everything I possibly can, and it has worked flawlessly.

16X Writing Speed, 8X without errors. Nov 15, 2005
By D. Avila When I burn a DVD to back up my photos, I definately want to Verify the written data after the burn session. I can't seem to burn an error-free DVD+R with this burner unless I drop the write speed down to 8X. Even 12X causes errors. If I ignore the couple of errors and try to see what photos are on the DVD anyway, the programs stop responding and the DVD drive goes nuts.
Why make a 16X burner if the only way to get an error-free disc is to force the 8X speed?

What a Great DVD Burner! Jul 25, 2006
By Colby I purchased this for my aging Sony laptop and it works great. I use Windows XP Home so setup was a snap. I have had NO problems with this drive and it burns disks very fast. My only complaint was that it didn't have LightScribe. I am going to buy a Mac soon so from others I have talked with, this should work with Apple computers. THIS IS AN AWESOME PRODUCT!

I Love the Sony DVD Burner DRX-720UL Oct 02, 2005

I Have a Mac Mini and When I first seen the DRX-720UL Looked on the box it didn't say anything about mac compatibility the I seen the sony DRX-720UL/T model it did say mac compatible but it was more then the DRX-720UL So bought the DRX-720UL and hooked it up with the firewire cable that came in the box and I was burning DVDs so fast it blew me away. It didn't come with mac burning software. but I had Toast 6 already. but you can use the built in burning software with Mac OSX (Tiger). I was up and running less then 5 minutes. Great product for a mac user. 5stars ( *****)
