works great with gos3.1 Jul 28, 2009 wonderful little machine that works great with gos3.1 gadgets. no problems running linux, installing openoffice 3, or anything else i've thrown at it yet. machine was actually new but had been returned by someone named "lettie" and there was no password in the packaging for the root account. or lettie's account.
no big deal though as i reformatted with gos & it recognizes all of the hardware and runs all of the software i've tried. plays all of the videos and music i've tried on it though i really use it for reading books, editing documents, and pdfs, and as a small laptop when i don't feel like dragging the big 13" macbook around.

Sylvania Meso Netbook PC with Ubuntu Linux Jun 12, 2009 I placed the order in mid March but wasn't delivered for 2.5 months. Therefore had to cancel the order and bought a netbook from System 76 which was delivered within 10 days. If the manufacturer doesn't deliver the product in time, I wonder about their support committments.
Sylvania G Meso Nettot Jun 11, 2009 It's a fantastic little machine. Perfect portable. I'm getting used to the Ubuntu op system, but that's another story. Coolness factor is through the roof. Only disadvantage so far is it doesn't support itunes. (But apparently there's a way to run a virtual Windows system on Ubuntu--I'll "get there" one day.) I'm very pleased. I'd think Sylvania could easily sell a mill of these in a year or two!
Great Value Jun 04, 2009 I enjoy using this little beast very much. It is what it should be - an on the couch or on the go way to get on the internet. No problems handling very complex web pages or streaming video. I was able to customize Ubuntu to add in the "OS X" look and Compiz, which is a multidesktop environment arranged in a cube. It handles the fairly fancy graphics just fine! It is a full blown Linux system, not some crippled version.
Keyboard is a little cramped, but hey, it's a 9 in computer! Had the minor issue of the blurry webcam, which was actually the cover being slightly popped out. Pushing it in fixed it.
I bought a refurbished one for $249 and don'r regret doing so. Now I am seeing similarly equipped refurbished Acers for $199! Things change in only a month! Great machine, though.
Complete Garbage. Don't Waste Your Money May 16, 2009 All of the Sylvania netbooks are garbage. They now call themselves Digital Gadgets, which is RCS Expericence out of New Jersey. They don't actually make any of them, they just put the Sylvania name on them. The worse part is their tech support, they are horrible.
