5Superb. Great new model.  Mar 27, 2011 By Matthew Elvey "tech whiz"
Well, if you've heard the original X-mini or X-mini II and want something similar, for less money, get this.
I gambled, as this was only $13, while the others are ~$30.
Look at the "Date first available at Amazon.com" field. For these, it's October 29, 2010, which suggests that the 1.1 is newer than the X-mini II; that's what made me willing to gamble.
I'm not disappointed. The volume this can put out, undistorted, is amazing. Much better than the usual quality of small speakers. We'll see how it holds up; other small speakers I've had wore out very very quickly.

Only downside is the tiny print in the manual.

MISC. INFO:

Has dual-color LED:
Red when charging
Blue when fully charged, or when running off battery
Can be used while charging/plugged in and sounds fine. (LED is red.)

Add'l specs from manual not in Amazon product description:

57.4 grams
2 watt output
120 Hz - 20 kHz
SNR: > 89 db
Distortion < 0.3 %
Battery: 220 mAh. Charging voltage: 3.7V +/- 0.05V

I'll submit 'em and the provided URLs as well.

4Improved over the first version  May 11, 2011 By L. Rosenblum
This cute little red speaker is very handy to use to listen to an iPod or similar device. It doesn't have the fidelity for serious music listening, but it is fine for audiobooks, podcasts, and the like. I had generation 1.0 but it died after a few months. I liked it so much I decided to try version 1.1, which has the advantage of being less expensive. So far, it has worked well.

3OK depending on the device  Dec 21, 2011 By chicagoraqs "chicagoraqs"
Just got this. I was hoping to use it with my mp3 player so I could teach dance classes anywhere. First, I tested it out on my Blackberry on a prerecorded NPR talk show program, and frankly, the Blackberry's speaker output is equal or louder than the x-mini. Next, I compared the x-mini's output with the Blackberry by testing it out on my coworkers Android phone with some of the videos he had downloaded on to his device and his radio. His Android, again, was equal to and sometimes better than the output of this device. The Android has a lot better output built in to the device than my Blackberry, so the sound was significantly louder to begin with; however, the cell phone unit itself has pretty loud speakers which render the x-mini unnecessary.

This does produce a lot of sound for the size of it, but I am looking for more sound output than whatever home device I am using it with, so....I am going to go home and plug it into my laptop and mp3 player and see how it does, but thus far I am unconvinced.

I will keep it for its intended dance class use, however, because it is very mobile and I can teach on the fly.

5big surprises in such a small item!  Feb 23, 2012 By J. Eubanks "dolphinfan"
This little speaker works great! The sound is good quality and loud!!! Love it! More than I ever expected in such a tiny object!

5great little purchase  Feb 05, 2012 By danis1of5
Love these little speakers....plug it in, pop the top, twist it open, and get that bass you've been missing! Ive bought three of these, two for my house, and one for a gift, and she wont be disappointed! Use two with a splitter...and viola...yummy "stereo" sound for movies on your kindle fire!
